Roy Cotton Memorial Trophy event

Roy Cotton was a founder member of Leeds Petanque Club in 2006 with our Chairman, Nigel Clay.
The formation of Leeds PC has been directly responsible for the subsequent development of the clubs in Harrogate, Heckmondwike, Huddersfield, Mirfield and Thorner.
Roy sadly passed away in June 2106 and we have held an annual event in his memory at the Leeds club, on Glen Road in Headingley.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday September 8th from 11.00 am to approx. 2pm,
So, technically, it will be an option to the Club’s usual, Sunday morning session!
We appreciate that this is close to the WYC Final at the same venue, but we do hope members will be able support the event.
As well as the Trophy match there will be a barbeque and social play.
We need about 8-10 players for the Trophy match and the format will depend on the numbers available on both sides. So PLEASE get in tough with Charles Stewart if you are able to come, and want to play in the match. Also to be able to organise transport for those wanting a lift!
THANKS!
Well done Charles!!!

Congratulations to Club Captain, Charles Stewart (right), on a magnificent performance at last weekend’s Northern Region Singles & Shooting Championships
Having lost narrowly to Northern President, Alan Swift (left), in the Singles Final, Charles took the title of Northern Singles Shooting Champion 2019.
He will now represent the North in the National Championships! Bon chance, mon brave!!

West Yorkshire Cup Final – 29th August
Please come and support HMPC in the Final versus Heckmondwike at Leeds PC’s ground in Glen Road, Headingley!
Planned start of 6-30pm for two rounds, and 5 matches:
2 Triples ( Gents and Ladies)
3 Mixed Pairs
We’re in the Final!
Congratulations to our West Yorkshire Cup team who beat arch rivals, Leeds PC, by 4 games to 1 in the semi-final at The Pierhead last Friday (2nd August)!
Jim, Nigel, Sandy, Brenda, Sue and Charles will now take on Heckmondwike, or Huddersfield, in the Final in a couple of weeks’ time, and probably on neutral ground at the Leeds terrain in Headingley.
HMPC won both the Gents and Ladies Triples, and mixed pairs wins for Brenda/Charles and Sue/Nigel secured a resounding victory.
Details for the Final to follow.

Thrilling finale to Yorkshire Day Melee
HMPC celebrated Yorkshire Day 2019 with an evening melee.
Three players were undefeated at the end of the competition, so the event was decided by a super shoot-out, which was won by Keith.
Congratulations to Keith.
