Some of us went for a late lunch to celebrate Graham’s birthday.

The New Year got off to a great start with fine weather for the traditional New Year’s Day meeting at the Pierhead.
This was followed by more good weather for the January Melee on 3rd January. As in December we enjoyed mulled wine, mince pies and other festive treats before the exciting finish.
With two players tied on 25 points, the first Melee Champion of 2020 was decided by the inevitable shootout. It was Helen who took home the bubbly. So much for dry January.

Congratulations to Joyce, winner of the December melee on 6th December at the Pierhead.
With 3 players achieving 4 wins out of 4, the winner was decided by a shoot-out.
With Christmas less than 3 weeks away, we celebrated with mince pies and mulled wine, which went down very well. Melee Christmas to one and all!
During Harrogate’s hosting of the UCI Cycling Championship in September, an impromptu friendly took place. Sue and Charles took on Luke and Joe from Belgium. The standard was very good with our lot winning!

Our melees are continuing through Autumn and Winter on the first Friday of the month at 12pm.
The first of these was held on 4th October. After an enjoyable series of games, with accompanying wine and nibbles, there was a 4-way tie.
The deciding shoot-out was won by Tony – well done.

Thursday evening melees have been enjoyed by most of our members, winners have been- Tony, Tricia, Alan and Keith twice. Keith won the final melee and took the cup home.
Winter melees will be starting on 4th October from 12.00 and the 1st Friday of the month. £3 to enter with the usual wine and nibbles. Weather permitting of course!

The annual RCMT event was held at Leeds PC in Headingley on Saturday, attracting 28 players and a ‘good crowd’ of Roy’s family and friends.
Roy was a founder member of the Leeds club, on Glen Road, with the Harrogate Chairman, Nigel Clay, in 2006. Roy sadly passed away in 2016.
After a round of triples and doubles, the ‘match’ was well won by the home team, who retained the Roy Cotton Memorial Trophy for another year.
Thanks to Leeds PC for their great hospitality!
The picture shows Paul Matthews receiving the trophy from Nigel.
We may be ready for a home fixture in 2020!
